Hiram Rodriguez
Hiram Rodriguez, born in the small town of Coamo, Puerto Rico, discovered his passion for drawing at the tender age of six. His artistic journey took a significant turn when his family relocated to the vibrant Bronx, New York. Amidst the challenges of family hardship, Hiram found solace and therapy in his art while residing in a boys' home.
Reuniting with his family marked a new chapter in his life, and today, Hiram's artwork beautifully reflects his Puerto Rican heritage and culture. His paintings are a vivid celebration of musical instruments, salsa singers, and Latin cuisine. Hiram's artistic exploration extends beyond these themes, delving into the realms of pop art and surrealism.
With a dedicated career spanning 38 years as a maintenance worker and freight elevator operator for the 32BJ union, Hiram is now retired. He continues to contribute to his community now living in Davenport, Florida, where his art continues to flourish and inspire as he is now teaching art.
